SR 539: Horton Road to Tenmile Road Widening

Project Description
Widening Guide Meridian Road to five lanes will increase safety and traffic capacity along this heavily-traveled traffic corridor. This widening work will also provide an additional lane of traffic in each direction along a major freight corridor between Bellingham and Aldergrove, British Columbia.

KPFF is the primary design consultant

Recent Progress

Real Estate aquisition began in the summer of 2001 and is currently 65% complete.

Plans and Specifications for contract advertisement are currently 90% complete.

Design Construction Impacts
Completing the design has been 'shelved' until the 2005-2007 bienium.  Work will resume in July of 2005 in preparation of the 2007 Contract Advertisement date.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
This project will provide a storm water collection and treatment system, roadside planting, and new wetlands.
