IMCO General Construction have completed the clearing of SR 530 on Friday, May 30. This portion of the project finished $1.5 million under the bid amount and were finished a week ahead of schedule.
Work began on Friday, May 9.
IMCO followed the removal plan developed by WSDOT and Snohomish County.
The plan ensures proper care and respectful recovery of any human remains, possessions or hazardous materials discovered while the roadway is cleared and reopened rapidly in an environmentally responsible manner. The Federal Emergency Management Agency will cover the majority of costs for this project, which was estimated to take about a month to complete.
Roughly 90,000 cubic yards of material was removed from the roadway.
The SR 530 Highway Clearing project was funded with $9 million of federal and state funding.
