SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Program

The westbound SR 520 off-ramp to Montlake Boulevard will close from 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10. That same weekend, westbound SR 520 will close from 11 p.m.  Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. Learn more about the work in our recent flier.

Governor signs transportation package, funds 'Rest of the West'
Gov. Inslee signed major transportation legislation on July 15 that provides $16.1 billion in new revenue for state highways, transit, ferries and multimodal projects. Included is $1.64 billion to complete SR 520 improvements from I-5 to Lake Washingon – the “Rest of the West.” Initial funding for SR 520 will allow WSDOT to immediately begin the west side segment's final-design work and construction planning, and start right of way and utility work. Get in line: Largest pontoons for floating bridge move into final position on Lake Washington
Crews building the new State Route 520 floating bridge on Lake Washington reached a significant milestone Wednesday, July 8, when they moved the bridge’s last three massive pontoons into final position.

Program Overview

The SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Program is enhancing public safety and mobility by replacing the highway's aging, vulnerable bridges and making significant transit and roadway improvements throughout the corridor. The construction program's planned improvements extend from I-5 in Seattle to I-405 in Bellevue.
