Project Title & Location
SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Project

Project Description
The overall project will replace the SR 520 floating bridge and associated approaches. This project is currently funded to complete the environmental review, including an Environmental Impact Statement through the Record of Decision, early right-of-way acquisitions, and design.

Contractor/Consultant
Parametrix of Sumner, Washington is the prime consultant design engineer.

Recent Progress

Recent project milestones accomplished include:

EIS Phase - 1.) held open houses in June 2004;  2.) also held Advisory and Technical Committee briefings in June 2004;  3.) fifteen draft discipline reports have been completed as of September 2004;  they were all prepared in the new reader-friendly format;  4.) completed Construction Staging report for temporary bridge option;  5.) completed Bridge Operations Facility conceptual design.

Early R/W Phase - early Right of Way acquisition (UW parcel) is currently on hold.  Record of Survey and existing R/W plans work is still underway and on schedule.

Design Construction Impacts

A Draft Environmental Impact Statement will be issued in Summer 2005.  A preferred alternative should be identified by Winter 2005/2006.  Funding for further stages of this project depends upon additional funding from the Regional Transportation Investment District (RTID) and tolling.  For estimated project construction costs for the project options under consideration visit the project web page above.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Environmental assessment and documentation is underway and on schedule.  Work remains within scope and budget.

Not yet fully determined.

Right of Way Spring 2004    Acquisition is on hold pending on future project funding and cash flow issues.
Environmental Permits Spring 2005   Permitting discussions are in progress now.  No issues at this time.
