SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Project

Project Description
The overall program will replace the SR 520 corridor from I-5 to I-405 and reconfigure the existing HOV lanes east of I-405. This program is currently funded to complete environmental documentation and replace the Evergreen Point Bridge from Foster Island to Medina.

Contractor/Consultant
Parametrix of Sumner, Washington is the prime consultant design engineer.

Recent Progress
Nickel funding began July 1, 2003. Recent project milestones accomplished include: 1.)completed West End Water Quality Study; 2.) investigated sunken vessels found during mapping of the Lake Washington floor; 3.)developed and screened I-5 improvement options for SR520 8-lane alternative; 4.) held public open houses in late October 2003; 5.) started Right of Way coordination and identified several potential parcels for early Right of Way purchase. Design Construction Impacts
A Draft Environmental Impact Statement will be issued in Summer 2005. A preferred alternative should be identified by Summer/Fall 2005. Funding for further stages of this project depends upon additional funding from the Regional Transportation Investment District (RTID) and tolling.
