SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Project - Floating Pontoon Construction Gallery

Views of Hood Canal Floating Bridge pontoon constructions and float-out. The new SR 520 Floating Bridge pontoons will be constructed in a similar way. The construction site has not yet been selected.

Pontoon Float-Out for the Hood Canal Bridge

 The day before float-out, crews make final preparations to float three finished pontoons out of the graving doc.  The first pontoon out of the graving dock.  A tug pulls the second pontoon out of the graving dock.  A tug pulls the third pontoon from the graving dock.  Water leaves the graving dock after pontoons are floated out.
