SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Program - 2006 Draft EIS

SR 520 Draft EIS at a Glance

What is an Environmental Impact Statement and what's in it?
An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is a document that provides comprehensive information about a project's purpose and need, proposed plans, and potential environmental effects in areas such as wetlands and wildlife, noise and future traffic operations. Creating an EIS is required as part of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA). Before an EIS can become final, it must be released in draft form for the public to review, comment on and ask questions about.

Why is the SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Project's draft EIS important to me?
Publishing the draft EIS is a key step along the path to identifying a preferred alternative for the bridge replacement. This is an important opportunity for the public to formally comment on the project's effects and have their comments tracked, published and addressed by the project team in the final version of the EIS.

What is evaluated in the SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Project's draft EIS?
The SR 520 draft EIS looks at plans and potential effects for a "No Build" Alternative, a 4-Lane Alternative and a 6-Lane Alternative, along with design options for the 6-Lane Alternative.

How can I see the draft EIS?
