Nighttime lane closures
MARCH through AUGUST 2009
Nighttime lane closures are planned during the summer paving months, roughly March through August 2009. One lane will remain open to traffic during construction. Check the construction update report for current closures.
What should drivers do?
- Plan ahead knowing that SR 520 might be congested during weekends in March, April and possibly May.
- Plan ahead knowing lanes will be closed at night this spring and summer.
- Consider shifting schedules during these months to avoid construction work.
- Refer to our tools page to help you get around.
What will WSDOT do?
- Schedule all work for nights and weekends.
- Work with local cities and utilities to limit work on parallel routes.
What other work is WSDOT doing?
WSDOT begins widening SR 520 between SR 202 and West Lake Sammamish Parkway in spring 2009. Most of this work will take place off the roadway in 2009. Work will be on the roadway in 2010.
WSDOT will also begin construction on the SR 520 bridge replacement in 2010.

May 2009: All lanes of I-90 express lanes closed to all traffic
June 21 and 22: Annual SR 520 bridge weekend maintenance
