Facing south across the westbound SR 520 lanes, the worn pavement is visible where it connects to the concrete bridge. Here, a concrete bridge approach slab will be built that can better resist settling and improve the ride from the structure to the asphalt pavement. The ruts and cracks will be repaired along the corridor as part of the repaving.
The pavement shown here is typical of the worn-out roadway sections this project will address. The existing asphalt will be planed and repaved to improve the pavement smoothness.
