Recent Progress
Work on the final stage of the project began in January 2004. To date, we have revisited the original environmental document completed in 1992 to identify changes that need to be reviewed to update the original EIS. An Open House was held on June 23, 2004, which was attended by more than 60 community members. Comments received included strong support to implement these improvements; a desire to address congestion at the SR 520/SR 202 intersection; requests to consider safety for bikes and pedestrians; requests to evaluate the need for walls to lessen higher noise levels; interest in identifying ways to accelerate the construction schedule; and to expand the high occupancy vehicle system.
WSDOT has determined that the new ramp in this project from westbound SR 202 to westbound SR 520 can be advanced as a separate project and opened to traffic by the end of 2007.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The work completed todate has determined that an Addendum to the original FEIS will be required, which will include updates to several discipline reports and updated traffic data. · Redmond is planning a project to enhance and meander Bear Creek adjacent to SR 520 in this area ·Stormwater detention prior to release to Sammamish River may be required, but will be difficult due to right-of-way constraints, low roadway elevations and high water table.

Impacts to Traffic
No significant impacts expected until Spring 2009 when project is under construction. Mitigation efforts will include a comprehensive public awareness campaign.
