Pontoon Construction Project environmental documents
|
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has completed environmental analysis for the SR 520 Pontoon Construction Project.
The Federal Highway Administration has signed the Record of Decision, a document that provides concurrence with our plans to build a pontoon construction facility at the Aberdeen Log Yard site and pontoons at that facility.
Now that we have received the Record of Decision, we are able to begin final engineering design and obtain construction permits. We will begin construction as soon as February 2011.
WSDOT is advancing pontoon construction to replace the SR 520 floating bridge over Lake Washington in the event of a catastrophic failure or to store pontoons until they are needed for the proposed SR 520 bridge replacement.
The Record of Decision follows our publication of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement in May 2010 and Final Environmental Impact Statement in December 2010.
