WSDOT replaced 30 worn and corroded cables that attach the SR 520 and I-90 floating bridges to anchors in the bed of Lake Washington. Fifteen of these cables connect to the SR 520 Albert D. Rosellini floating bridge and 15 connect to the I-90 Homer Hadley floating bridge.
Anchoring the floating bridges to the bed of Lake Washington keeps the bridges from moving in heavy storms or fluctuating conditions. Replacing worn and corroded anchor cables will help to keep the bridges firmly in place.
