Project Description
The 2.4 mile section of SR 503 from NW Onsdorff Boulevard to NE 132nd Avenue experiences back-ups due to high truck volumes and steep grades. By constructing a truck climbing lane, the project will reduce back-ups on this section of SR 503, increasing the flow of traffic.

Recent Progress
The project summary was completed in March 2007.  The project is nearing the 30% design level which is scheduled to be complete in August 2007.  Environmental,  Geotechnical, and Right of Way activities are just beginning.

Design Construction Impacts
Design challenges with drainage and sensitive areas as suitable locations for stormwater facilities and wetland mitigation are limited within the existing right of way.  Right of Way acquisition may be needed for these facilities.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The environmental process is just beginning on this project.  WSDOT is beginning the Biological Assessment and the consultant is beginning the cultural & archeological investigation.  Wetland impacts are being determined.

Impacts to Traffic
Design team will develop construction reviews and attempt to minimize traffic impacts as much as possible.
