Project Description
Increase capacity and safety of SR 502 between NE 10th Ave and Battle Ground by increasing the number of travel lanes from two to four, installing median barrier, signalizing intersections, and establishing limited access control.

PB is the consultant performing the environmental documentation.

Recent Progress
This project is in the Preliminary Engineering and Environmental phase. The project environmental discipline reports have been finalized. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement is currently being reviewed. Right of Way and Limited Access plans are being finalized for an Access Hearing in January 2009.
The project Biological Assessment was submitted to the FHWA and NOAA Fisheries October 20, 2008.
Coordination is ongoing with the following services; Department of Ecology, Corps of Engineers, US Fish & Wildlife, National Marine Fisheries Service, and Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife.

Design Construction Impacts
While it is too early in project development to determine the exact magnitude, the size and complexity of the project clearly indicates there will be property impacts and business impacts. Known risks are property acquisitions, wetland impacts, storm water treatment and fish passage barriers.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The NEPA / EIS process for the project is currently underway. The studies have detailed the project's direct and indirect environmental impacts (natural, ecological, societal and economic) in order to guide final design and construction.
