On June 24, 2010, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) signed the NEPA decision document (called the Record of Decision) concurring with the Washington State Department of Transportation in the choice to select the preferred alternative for the SR 502 Corridor Widening Project. The Record of Decision (ROD) documents FHWA’s decision that the preferred alternative, identified in the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), is the selected alternative. This decision is based on an evaluation of information presented in the Final EIS, the project’s purpose and need, input from the public and interagency coordination. Public comments submitted during the comment period for the Draft EIS (June 5 –July 20, 2009) were addressed in the Final EIS. Appendix G of the Final EIS contains a complete record of these comments and provides a response to each comment. There are a couple of ways to receive and/or review the Final EIS and the ROD:
