Recent Progress
This project is in the Preliminary Engineering and Environmental Assessment phase. We recently evaluated two options through a third-level screening process, Option E-4 and Option M-South. Option E-4 realigns the existing highway North of Duluth corner commercial area. Option M-South maintains the current alignment of NE 219th Street with the additional widening primarily to the South of the existing highway. The team has chosen M-South as the new recommended build alternative and public communication regarding this decision is now being prepared. We maintained contact with property owners from whom we may purchase right of way and met with business owners from Duluth in August to listen to their concerns.

Design Construction Impacts
Right of way acquisition, geotechnical uncertainty and storm water treatment have been identified as potential risk items. The project team is developing a risk management plan to minimize impacts to the scope, schedule and budget.
