Project Title & Location
I-5 / SR 502 Interchange

Project Description
This new interchange, connecting I-5 to State Route 502, will reduce congestion, improve safety and provide more direct access from Interstate 5 to north Clark County and Battle Ground.

Contractor/Consultant
Kerr Contractors, Inc., Woodburn, OR 

Recent Progress
The project was awarded to Kerr Constructors, Inc. of Woodburn Oregon on February 16, 2007. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on April 12, 2007. The summer construction activities have been focused on maximizing work on grading, drainage, bridge substructures, utilities and surfacing. The Contractor will be paving as much new roadway as possible in order to stabilize and preserve the site in preparation for the rainy season.

Design Construction Impacts
Right of way acquisition, geotechnical uncertainty and storm water treatment have been identified as potential risk items. The project team is developing a risk management plan to minimize impacts to the scope, schedule and budget.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The Environmental Assessment was completed in August 2005 and is currently available for public comment.

Impacts to Traffic
The speed limit has been reduced to 60 MPH in the construction vicinity for the duration of this project. Daytime and nighttime northbound and southbound left shoulder closures for the duration of the project.   Daytime left lane closure southbound on I-5 for bridge construction activities. Daytime flagging on SR 502 in vicinity of Duluth for trucks entering and exiting the work zone.
