Overview
This project will make safety improvements to the State Route 4 and State Route 401 corridors in Pacific, Wahkiakum, and Cowlitz counties. Safety improvements will reduce the severity of collisions where motorists have driven off the roadway.
The SR 401 improvements will begin where US Highway 101 meets SR 401 near Knappton, and end at the northern point of SR 401, where the state route meets SR 4.
The SR 4 improvements will begin where the roadway meets US Highway 101, near Johnsons Landing in Pacific County. The improvements will go east, through Wahkiakum and Cowlitz counties, ending where the roadway meets State Route 432.
Why is WSDOT
making safety improvements to this corridor?
In a recent statewide analysis of collisions, one of the major areas of concern was the number of collisions in rural areas. In the 2005 legislative session, funding was allocated to make safety improvements to this corridor, which would reduce the severity of these collisions.
The End Result
This project will improve safety on the SR 4 and SR 401 corridors, through Pacific, Wahkiakum and Cowlitz counties.
