Two emergency projects along SR 4 were completed in 2007.
An emergency project to repair the slope above State Route 4 at milepost 50.9, just east of Stella, was completed in June 2007. Single lane closures with a portable traffic signal began in December 2006, when it was determined that the slope adjacent to the roadway was unstable and emergency repairs would be required. Crews removed loose rock and large, unstable trees located on the north side of the State Route 4. In addition, rock anchors were installed, helping to further stabilize the rock slope above the highway.
Another repair project took place in the summer of 2007. Repairs to SR 4, west of Cathlamet (milepost 25.5), were necessary due to an unstable slope. Crews cleared loose debris and trees, and stabilized the slope.
