SR 303/Manette Bridge Replacement - Kitsap County

Project Description
The purpose of this project is to replace the Manette Bridge in Bremerton. This bridge is currently structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. The new bridge will provide two 11 ft lanes, two 5 ft shoulders, and one 12 ft wide sidewalk.

Recent Progress

WSDOT hosted a public Open House for the Manette Bridge Replacement project on March 28, 2007. The comments received on the proposed design are being evaluated and WSDOT will work with the city of Bremerton to incorporate comments related to bridge aesthetics. The Environmental Documentation process is underway. WSDOT is currently preparing the Biological Assessment and has hired a consultant to perform the cultural resources investigation within the project footprint

Design Construction Impacts
Bridge construction and demolition methods are greatly influenced by the environmental restrictions.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Stormwater will be collected and treated in accordance with current standards. The majority of the work will be in- or above-water work. Several environmental permits are required for this project: Corps of Engineers section 404, Nationwide COE, Coast Guard, BA NEPS CDE, and SEPA DNS.

Impacts to Traffic
The public can expect periodic lane closures and slow-moving traffic through the work zone during construction. The bridge will be closed up to three months to tie the ends of the bridge into the existing streets. The public will be provided advance notice of the closure and a detour will be established.
