Recent Progress
The Preferred Alternative Connections have been selected for preliminary design and environmental study. A connector on the north end near Lake Flora Road (N3) and another south of the North Mason School District (S4) will make the bypass the primary route for SR3 traffic.
Site survey of the 5 mile corridor is under way and is approximately 75% complete.
Discipline studies for the Environmental Assessment will be predominately conducted by WSDOT Eastern Region staff. Preliminary engineering project management plan and schedule under development.

Impacts to Traffic
This project, which constructs a new corridor, will bisect the Alta-Vista neighborhood. A system of frontage roads will be required to provide access. Due to the absence of construction funding for this project, it is very unlikely that this new road will be constructed before sewer and widening work in the Belfair Urban area begins.
