SR 285 North Wenatchee Area Intersection Improvements

Status

Winter 2017-18

This project will relieve congestion and provide safety enhancements on SR 285 North Wenatchee Avenue and US 2 in Olds Station.

Between now and 2019 the Chelan/Douglas Transportation Council has funding to refine the proposed projects into a specific plan and timeline.

Proposed solutions on North Wenatchee Avenue are anticipated to include modifying intersections to improve turn radii, providing U-Turns, eliminate section of the Two Way Center Lane Left Turn Lane to construct raised medians, pedestrian and transit improvements, upgrades to lighting and signal systems, and ITS improvements. The proposed solution on US 2 at Easy Street includes removing the existing signal and constructing a round-a-bout with pedestrian and bicycle facilities.

Why is WSDOT addressing safety and congestion through this corridor?
As population and traffic has increased, backups several times a day have become commonplace and collisions have risen as drivers attempt unsafe maneuvers to get where they want to go.

The End Result
A smoother commute through a safer corridor.

Project Benefits
Limiting access and providing transit, bicycle and pedestrian facilities as well as an additional lane at some locations will improve mobility, reducing congestion and driver frustration.

What is the project timeline?

  • Design 2019 through 2023
  • Right of Way 2020 through 2025
  • Construction 2023 through 2027
