Recent Progress
The bridge office has completed preliminary plans and is continuing their design work. The geotechnical office has completed drilling test holes and the design team is coordinating with the railroad and developing traffic staging plans. A public open house was held on May 28th to update everyone on the most recent designs of all three George Sellar Bridge projects. Coordinating with BNSF on easement and agreement issues.

Design Construction Impacts
We are investigating the staging requirements between this project and the projects at either end of the bridge. This project will be a two season project. Significant coordination with BNSF will be required while constructing the walkway over the railroad.
|
|
Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The Sellar Bridge is on the national historic register. A 4f style process at the State level will be required for bridge truss modifications to allow for sufficient vertical clearance. A hydraulics permit and shorelines permit will also be required.
|
Impacts to Traffic
This project will heavily impact commuter traffic. The region is investigating the use of night shifts and A + B bidding to minimize construction impacts to the traveling public.
