SR 285/George Sellar Bridge-Additional EB Lane

Project Description
This project adds an additional eastbound lane to the George Sellar Bridge by removing the existing sidewalks. Pedestrian movements will be addressed by providing alternative access across the bridge.

Contractor/Consultant

Recent Progress
Project was awarded to Max J. Kuney Co. March 24th.  The first working day was the night of May 10.

Design Construction Impacts
We are investigating the staging requirements between this project and the projects at either end of the bridge.  This project will be a two season project.  Significant coordination with BNSF will be required while constructing the walkway over the railroad.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The Sellar Bridge is on the national historic register.  A 4f style process at the State level has been conducted with DAHP (SHPO) to assess needed bridge modifications.  A hydraulics permit, shorelines permit and NPDES permit have been acquired.

Impacts to Traffic
This project will heavily impact commuter traffic.  The region is using night shifts and the Quick Change Movable Barrier to minimize construction impacts to the traveling public.
