Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending June 2009

Project Title & Location
SR 28 - Junction US 2/97 to 9th Street - Stage 1 - East Wenatchee

Project Description
This project will provide necessary improvements to the SR 28 and US 2/97 intersection to allow for the Eastmont Extension tie-in as well as increasing the number of lanes on each leg of the intersection and paving with portland cement concrete pavement.

Contractor/Consultant
This project will be divided into several contracts with the first contract being advertised for competitive bidding in the Fall of 2008.  Portions of this project are being developed by Douglas County.  The county is utilizing consultants.

Recent Progress
WSDOT and Douglas county are working on designing the projects.  WSDOT has finalized the intersection and right of way plans for the intersection piece, and is moving into PS&E development.  The first small contract to replace a section of irrigation canal has been completed by the county.  A county project to construct a bridge over Canyon B is scheduled for a June Advertisement.

Design Construction Impacts
There will be impacts to adjacent property owners and utilities.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
All environmental documents and permits are on time.

Impacts to Traffic
Construction staging plans are under development in conjunction with possible detour plans to minimize the impact to the traveling public.  Looking into utilizing a temporary roundabout during construction.
