Recent Progress
This project constructs a four-lane highway, with a continuous center turn lane, along the existing SR 270 alignment. The project was executed May 8, 2006 and work started on July 10, 2006. Current construction activities include repairing and installing a signal pole, minor slope finishing, cleaning ditches, spring 2008 planting on wetland mitigation sites, and minor amounts of seeding.

|
Design Construction Impacts
The relocation of the utilities along the corridor impacted the project prompting a revision to the sequencing. The project was open to traffic November 2007 and met our commitment.

|
Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Environmental Sensitive areas have been delineated with Orange High Visibility fencing. Silt fence and inlet protection have been placed to help mitigate surface erosion. Straw matting has been placed to stop surface erosion. Slopes have been seeded.

Impacts to Traffic
The blasting operation impacted traffic. A detour using Airport Road was set up to help alleviate the impacts. We utilized the Traffic Management Center (TMC), News Alerts, Highway Advisory Radio's (HAR's), and Variable Message Signs (VMS) to provide information to the public.
