SR 26 - Intersection Improvements

Project  Complete October 26, 2017

  • This project was awarded to Central Washington Asphalt on May 31, 2017.
  • Construction will began in August and was complete October 26.

This project rebuilt and realigned two intersections on SR 26:

  • SR 26 and SR 243, near Vantage
  • SR 26 and Thacker Road, two miles west of Othello

Why is WSDOT realigning these intersections?
Both SR 243 and Thacker Road intersected SR 26 at a skewed angle. This project realigned and rebuilt these intersections so that they intersect closer to a 90-degree angle. The project also installed electronic "Your Speed" signs at SR 26 and SR 243, and electronic signs on SR 26 at Thacker Road warning drivers of incoming traffic from Thacker.

The End Result

This project improves sight distance for vehicles on SR 26 and also on the intersecting roadways, making it easier for vehicles to navigate. The electronic signs are designed to increase driver awareness.

Project Benefits

  • Improved vision for drivers at intersections
  • Increased driver safety awareness
