Status

Complete May 2010

Construction began Mar. 15, 2010 and was complete within the scheduled 30 working days on May 6.

This Safety Improvement/Collision Reduction project constructed a passing lane on SR 26 just west of Othello.

Why is WSDOT constructing a passing lane on SR 26?
There have been numerous passing related collisions along this stretch of SR 26.  The addition of a passing lane provides motorists with a dedicated lane for passing.

The End Result
The addition of a passing lane increases mobility and reduces the potential for head on collisions.

Project Benefits

  • Reduced collision potential
  • Increased freight mobility
