Project Description
This project improves 14 miles of SR 241 from just north of Sunnyside (MP 10) and continuing north to near the junction with SR 24 (MP 24). The project will realign two s-curves just south of the SR 241/SR 24 junction and update guardrail and signing throughout the project limits.

Recent Progress
M. A. Deatley began work on February 19, 2008. The earthwork for the curve realigning was completed March 19th and a scheduled 30 day project suspension for earthwork settlement is underway. The guardrail updates on SR 241 were completed in March. Work is scheduled to resume April 21st, placing crushed rock on the new alignment. Paving the new alignment is anticipated to begin by late April. The contractor is currently on schedule to open the project to traffic on May 6th.

Design Construction Impacts
There have been several minor changes to date as well as a credit to the contract. Between the changes and credit combined, no additional dollars have been added to the contract.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Region construction staff, with support from regional environmental staff, are working with the contractor personnel to ensure compliance.

Impacts to Traffic
This project will be staged to minimize impacts to traffic. Pilot car controlled one way traffic control is being utilized as necessary. The construction office has met with a Hanford representative and discussed traffic impacts to their commuters. Hanford will be kept informed of weekly traffic impacts through the project duration.
