Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending March 2005

Project Title & Location
SR 24 – I-82 to Keys Road – Additional Lanes – Yakima

Project Description
This project constructs one additional lane in each direction from I-82 to Riverside Road, improves the interchange, and constructs a new bridge over the Yakima River, relieving congestion, improving safety, and addressing erosion at the Yakima River Bridge piers.

Contractor/Consultant
Project was advertised on February 28, 2005, but has not yet opened or been awarded.

Recent Progress
The project was advertised for bid on February 28, 2005.  The utility agreements are complete and relocation has started.  Right of way has been acquired for 31 parcels, 2 are in condemnation (Possession and Use is being processed for both), and 2 access only are being negotiated. 

Design Construction Impacts

We are writing a special provision to inform the prospective contractors that the utility relocation work on Riverside Road will not be completed until mid June.   Two addendums were prepared, the first addendum was released in mid March and the second will be released on March 30th.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance

All permits have been acquired for this project.
