Project Title & Location
SR 24 – I-82 to Keys Road – Additional Lanes – Yakima

Project Description
This project constructs one additional lane in each direction from I-82 to Riverside Road, improves the interchange, and constructs a new bridge over the Yakima River, relieving congestion, improving safety, and addressing erosion at the Yakima River Bridge piers.

Recent Progress
Contract plans are 95 % complete and are being reviewed by the South Central Region.  One utility agreement is complete and 10 in process.  Right of way has been acquired, or is being processed, for 13 parcels, 21 are in negotiations, and one is in condemnation.

Design Construction Impacts

It was decided to add two quarries sites to this project to encourage lower prices on the bids and provide sources for materials for out of the area contractors.  The City of Yakima and State are working to add the construction of a new sewer line to this project.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
SEPA was complete on August 3rd.   The Hydraulic Project Approval, Nationwide 23, and Water Quality - Best Management Practices permits are complete.  Three remaining permits are in public review, but are anticipated to be complete by December 2004.
