On June 28, 2007, WSDOT, the Transportation Improvement Board, and Yakima County came together to celebrate the opening of the new lanes on SR 24 and the 33rd Street Corridor Improvements project. The event was complete with several guest speakers including WSDOT Secretary of Transportation Doug MacDonald, WSDOT Regional Administrator Don Whitehouse, and State Senator Jim Clements.
