WSDOT improved a 12-mile stretch of SR 203 between Carnation and Monroe by grinding out old pavement to remove ruts and cracks and putting down a new layer of asphalt. The project also improved sidewalks and crosswalks in the area.
As traffic increased on this busy stretch of road between King and Snohomish counties, the pavement became more cracked and rutted. By repaving, drivers will have smoother trips. New highly reflective pavement markings also improve safety, especially during inclement weather.
| Economic Incentive
Maintenance crews were making more and more trips to this area to make road repairs. The new pavement will extend the useful life of the roadway and cut down on the amount of maintenance work necessary.
Partnerships & Cooperation
The total estimated cost of this project is $5.5 million.
