SR 202 - Preston Fall City Road and Jct SR 203 - Complete July 2008

Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending December 2004

Project Title & Location
SR 202 - Jct. Preston-Fall City Road & Jct. SR 203 - at Fall City

Project Description
This project will construct sidewalks and intersection control improvements at the intersection of SR 202 and Preston-Fall City Road and at the intersection of SR 202 and SR 203.

Contractor/Consultant
A Contractor will be selected in Winter 2006.

Recent Progress
Funding was approved to start work in January 2004.  A single lane roundabout has been recommended for the intersection of SR 202 and SR 203.   The intersection at at SR 202 and Preston-Fall City Road has been recommended for  "No Build" due to the high cost and low benefit a roundabout or signal would have at this intersection.

Design Construction Impacts
Additional rights of way are required. The north roundabout alternative will require right of way from an existing business.  The SR 202 and Preston-Fall City Road intersection design for a roundabout or signal  would require the purchase of a gas station and impact the parking and access to two other businesses.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Construction of the roundabouts will result in flood plain compensatory storage impacts.  Some of this fill in the flood plain can be mitigated at an adjacient project site.  Endangered Species and water quality will need to be addressed in the project.

Impacts to Traffic
Intermittent lane closures are expected during the construction of this project (2007 and 2008).
