The Coupeville ferry terminal provides a critical link between the Olympic Peninsula and Whidbey Island. This project reinforced the existing 40-year-old towers that support the vehicle and pedestrian transfer span with steel piles and concrete caps. In the event of a 100-year seismic event, the rebuilt transfer span will maintain reliable off-and on-loading of the ferry.
The project brought the transfer span towers up to current seismic code. Project also improves maintenance access ladders.
