Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending December 2004

Project Title & Location
SR18 - Issaquah/Hobart Rd to I-90 - EA - Maple Valley to Snoqualmie

Project Description
This project will complete the environmental work for widening SR 18 to 2 lanes each direction with truck climbing lanes between Issaquah/Hobart Road and I-90, constructing a new interchange at Tigergate summit and making improvements to the I-90/SR 18 interchange.

Recent Progress

The consultant has completed several conceptual design alternatives for the corridor including alternatives for the Tiger Mountain Summit interchange and the I-90 interchange.  These alternatives were screened for fatal flaws and several were discarded.  Following this screening process the remaining alternatives will be presented at a public open house for review and comments.  It is anticipated the first public open house will be held in January 2005.   Coordination with FHWA, cooperating agencies, and project stakeholders are continuing.

Construction phase not yet funded.  Please see the project page for more information.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The project is in early stages of the environmental documentation process.  During this process, the design team will identify project impacts and address compliance issues.

Impacts to Traffic
The completed SR 18 project will improve traffic flow and safety on the highway.
