Design work is underway and the project is scheduled to be advertised for private contractor bids on October 19th, 2010 with construction to follow in the summer of 2011.
This roadway preservation project repaves 3.68 miles of SR 171 through the City of Moses Lake and upgrades existing sidewalk curb ramps to comply with current American's with Disabilities Act standards.
Why is WSDOT
paving and improving this section of SR 171?
The roadway is in need of pavement restoration due to the deterioration of the existing asphalt. The roadway will be improved with stronger asphalt to preserve the load carrying capacity of the roadway. Improvements to sidewalk ramps and other spot safety will be incorporated in this project.
The End Result
This project will restore the structural integrity of the pavement and improve roadway safety with the construction of pavement markings. Existing sidewalk ramps will be upgraded to current American's with Disabilities Act standards.
