SR 17 Moses Lake North Paving - Complete June 2008
Construction began April 14th and was complete June 27th.
This Roadway Preservation project repaves 5.35 miles of SR 17 starting south of the I-90/ SR 17 interchange and finishing north of Randolph Rd. This project does not include the Pioneer Way to Stratford Road section of SR 17 as that was widened and paved last summer.
Why is WSDOT
paving and improving this section of SR 17?
This section of SR 17 is in need of pavement restoration due to the deterioration of the existing asphalt. The roadway is being improved with stronger asphalt to handle the increasing amount of traffic. Spot safety and drainage items are also included to further improve the roadway.
The End Result
This project will restore the structural integrity of the pavement. It will also improve safety by installing new, higher visibility striping, installing centerline rumble strips, and updating existing guardrail. Sidewalk ramps throughout the project will be upgraded to current American's with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
Project Benefits
- Extends roadway life
- Improves safety
- Provides a smoother driving surface
