Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending September 2005

Project Title & Location
15th St. SW to S. 180th St. Stage 3: HOV Lanes--Auburn to Renton

Project Description
This project reduces congestion by adding a northbound high occupancy vehicle lane and adding ramp meters and high occupancy vehicle bypass lanes at several interchanges.

Contractor/Consultant
Project is not yet advertised or awarded.

Recent Progress

The environmental Joint Aquatic Resource Permit Application (JARPA) has been submitted to the resource agencies.  Review comments received have been addressed.  Approval of the application is anticipated to occur in time to allow scheduled Ad.

The plans have been submitted for the review process.

Letters of concurrence have been received on the Biological Assessment submittal from the US Fish and Wildlife Service and from the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration.

Design Construction Impacts

The widening of the S 212th St southbound on ramp bridge has been deleted due to environmental, constructability and schedule impacts.  The existing bridge will be restriped to provide a metered general purpose lane and an HOV bypass lane.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Five-year-old permits obtained for the old design have expired and have been reapplied for.  SEPA Document has been re-circulated.

Impacts to Traffic
The project will improve the efficiency of the general purpose and HOV lanes.  Construction will require lane closures at times during non-peak hours.  Public outreach will be conducted.
