SR 167 – Southbound 8th St. E Vic. to S 277th St. Vic. HOV/HOT Lane Auburn to Pacific

Project Description
This project will construct a south-bound HOT lane from where it ends currently at 37th St. NW to the vicinity of 3rd Ave. SW. A drop lane will be constructed from the vicinity of 3rd Ave. SW to the 8th St. E interchange. Ramp meters will be installed at the following ramps: 15th St. SW (SB), Ellingson Rd. (SB), and 8th St. E (SB). New interim signals will be installed at the 8th St. E/SR 167 SB ramps and the Ellingson Rd./SR 167 SB ramps intersections.

Recent Progress
· May 2008 CEVP cost to complete is $85.0 M.
· Draft Geology/Soils/Groundwater, Public Services & Utilities, Hazardous Materials, Environmental Justice, Cultural Resources/Section 106, Visual Quality, Air, and Noise Discipline Reports/Memos are being reviewed.
· The Draft Mitigation Plan and JARPA are being reviewed. Preliminary Bridge Plans are ready for approval pending an update to the notes referencing updated Standard Plans. For more project information see the project web page

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
An environmental document (DCE) is being prepared for submittal to the regulatory agencies in Summer 2008

Impacts to Traffic
The project will increase capacity and improve traffic operations by extending the HOV lanes through a major congestion point, the SR 167/SR 18 interchange. Construction will require lane closures during non-peak hours and may require peak hour lane closures.
