WSDOT contractor crews repaved about 2 miles of northbound State Route 167 between South 212th Street in Kent and South 43rd Street in Renton. Our contractors also repaved the South 212th Street and South 43rd Street on-ramps to northbound SR 167, and the northbound SR 167 off-ramp to South 180th Street.
The crews used grinding equipment to remove old pavement from all lanes, then repaved with a new layer of asphalt about 1.5 inches thick and striped the new pavement.
The new pavement on SR 167 improves traction by eliminating ruts and cracks that could collect water. This increases safety for drivers.
| Economic Incentive
Repaving this section of SR 167 extends the highway’s life, reduces maintenance costs related to repairs, and frees up maintenance crews for other work.
