SR 16 - Burley Olalla Interchange

Project Description
Constructs a new grade-separated interchange on SR 16 at Burley-Olalla Road to improve safety at this high accident location.

Project not advertised or awarded.

Recent Progress
Design of stormwater treatment is being finalized. Consultant has been hired to investigate the northern stormwater treatment pond due to the artesian water within the area. Wetland mitigation agreement being finalized.  Wall types, size, and location have been finalized.  Joint Public Notice for environmental permits submitted on August 21, 2007.

Design Construction Impacts
Two fish barriers will be removed and remediated to new fish passable structures.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Two fish barriers are being remediated.  Cultural resource study completed for project limits.  All required permits have been applied for.

Impacts to Traffic

Four lanes of SR 16 will be provided throughout the duration of the project.  Traffic speeds through the area will be reduced to 40 MPH.  With the exception of Emergency Vehicles, access at Burley Olalla Road, to and from SR 16 is anticipated to be closed for the duration of the project.

Environmental Complete February  28, 2008 Environmental permits are expected in March 2008.
Right of Way Complete February 28, 2008 R/W phase only required for off-site wetland mitigation.

Estimated Open to Traffic December 31, 2009 Anticipated open to traffic is August 2010.
