Project Description
Constructs a new grade-separated interchange on SR 16 at Burley-Olalla Road to improve safety at this high accident location.

Project not advertised or awarded.

Recent Progress
The project team is developing contract plan sheets. Wetland mitigation strategy is being developed. Work Zone Traffic Control strategy has been identified. Hydraulic design is currently being reviewed.

Design Construction Impacts
The project team is developing the project management plan and project delivery schedule to identify critical deliverables, task relations and dependencies, and assignments.  An environmental document delivery plan will be developed early in the process in order to obtain permits by advertisement.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The Value Engineering Study recommends a tight diamond interchange due in part to wetlands in proximity of all four quadrants.  Design minimized wetland impacts. An environmental document will be prepared, and, if unavoidable, impacts and mitigation will be identified.

Impacts to Traffic

Construction of the interchange will severely restrict local access to SR 16 via the Burley-Olalla Road.  The project team will investigate ways to minimize construction time and reduce restrictions to Burley-Olalla Road.  The local roadway system will provide practical options during the construction phase.

Environmental Complete October 2007 Environmental permits are expected in February 2008.
Right of Way Complete October 2007 No R/W is needed within the project area.  R/W phase is needed for off-site wetland mitigation.
Advertisement November 2007 Advertisement Date will be delayed due to longer than expected time to acquire the environmental permits.  Expected Advertisement Date is April 2008.
Estimated Open to Traffic October 2009 The delay in advertisement may impact the estimated project completion date.
