The legislature's 2015 "Connecting Washington"
revenue package. included $6.5 Million in final design and construction funding to build a roundabout at the SR 150/NoSeeUm Rd. intersection. The project is anticipated to be completed no later than 2018.
On Dec. 15, WSDOT staff held a second open house for the project. This one in coordination with the in the town of Manson’s Community Council meeting. 30 people attended including 12th District State Representative Cary Condotta. Questions ranged from the need for a roundabout, how fruit trucks would maneuver through it and impacts to the community and businesses during construction.
We also heard from those who said there is a need to develop an alternative route in addition to SR 150. We passed that suggestion to the Chelan-Douglas Transportation Council which is responsible for local transportation planning in the two counties.
The first open house was held at the City Council Chambers.
Three years ago the legislature funded this project for planning and design. The final recommended alternative following the engineering study was to build a roundabout.

This I-2 Highway Capital Improvement Program Collision Prevention Safety Project would construct improvements to the intersection of SR 150 and No See-Um Road between Manson and Chelan.
Why is WSDOT
improving this intersection?
Even with hundreds of yet-to-be-developed residential lots that will be accessed through this intersection, the current average traffic count has already risen to 10,000 vehicles per day. These volumes are producing more and longer delays for side-road traffic - the result of the lack of gaps to turn onto the highway. Faced with these conditions, drivers are sometimes making decisions that result in a collision or a near miss.
The proposed roundabout is to reduce collisions, delays and improve bicycle and pedestrian mobility and access to Lake Chelan.

A new intersection to accommodate higher traffic volumes while reducing the potential for serious collisions.

What is the project timeline?
The 2015 Connecting Washington budget includes $6.5 Million for design, acquisition of right of way and construction of the roundabout by 2018.
