Recent Progress
Development of Right of Way and Limited Access Plans in preparation for April 2009 Limited Access Hearing.
Due to escalating material costs and new seismic standards, the project was revised to stay within budget. The West Camas Slough Bridge will no longer be widened to four lanes - instead, the existing bridge rail will be replaced and a new median barrier placed on the the bridge. The half interchange and Union St has been redesigned as a split diamond between Union St. and 2nd St. The intersection of SR 14 and 6th St has been eliminated. Minor revisions to mainline and frontage road alignments were also made to minimize right of way and utility impacts.

Design Construction Impacts
This project will include an Access Hearing and acquisition of Limited Access. Construction of the new East Camas Slough Bridge is subject to in-water work restrictions. Construction staging will strive to minimize impacts to traffic throughout the duration of the project.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Major work activities associated with environmental documentation are anticipated to be completed in 2009. The Biological Assessment with formal consultation has been submitted.
|
Impacts to Traffic
The design team is currently developing the staging and work zone traffic control strategy. Likely impacts during construction include narrowed lanes and shoulders, turning movement restrictions at intersections, overweight/oversize load restrictions, and bicycle detours.
