SR 112 - Fish Barrier Removal Project - Complete June 2006

Overview
Quick work by contractor Bruch & Bruch Construction of Port Angeles, Wash., allowed WSDOT to reopen State Route (SR) 112 at 11 p.m. Friday, July 21, about 30 hours ahead of schedule.

The roadway had been completely closed at the location for the replacement of a culvert that was a barrier to migratory fish passage.

How You Benefit

Guardrail was installed to reduce the hazard of an errant vehicle entering the stream channel.
Car GlyphRelieves Congestion
Increased culvert capacity to accommodate a 100-year storm water runoff reduces the possibility of culvert blockage and highway overtopping.
Leaf Glyph Protects Environment
The existing under-crossing of this unnamed tributary to the Pysht River has been identified as deficient for fish passage by the Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife.
