Recent Progress

This project is a cooperative effort between the Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group (HCSEG), the Skokomish Tribal Nation and the Washington State Department of Transportation. WSDOT is currently working with both the HCSEG and the Skokomish Tribal Nation to update environmental documentation and to finalize the project design and plan set.

Design Construction Impacts
The project was designed for the HCSEG and the Skokomish Tribal Nation by Engineering Services Associates in 2003.  The construction phase of the project will be administered by the WSDOT.  A review of the plans set and specifications will be required of WSDOT.  Contract specifications, at a minimum, will need to be updated prior to advertisement of the project.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Environmental permitting for the project requires that creek restoration work occurring in the Skobob Creek channel be completed between July 15 and September 15.  This requirement ensures that during this period migrating fish will not be impacted by construction of the project.  In addition temporary erosion, sediment, and spill control measures will be included in the project.

Impacts to Traffic
SR 106 in the vicinity of the Skobob Creek crossing will close during the bridge construction.  Detour routes will be provided.  Local access in the vicinity of the bridge construction will be allowed.  A comprehensive public awareness campaign will be used to alert the public of the closure.
