Hood Canal Bridge 2007 Public Opinion Survey Report

Hood Canal Bridge Closure Commitment Plan

East-Half Replacement Closure Mitigation Plan Final Report (pdf, 1,510 KB) This report is a continuation of efforts completed during Phase I of the Closure Mitigation Plan (Preferred Options) by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and the Peninsula Regional Transportation Planning Organization (PRTPO). The eleven (11) Phase I preferred options for mitigating traveler disruptions were reviewed and conclusions about their efficacy determined. The report defines the six final strategies in sufficient detail that services associated with each strategy could be identified and planned for prior to bridge closure.

2002 Hood Canal Bridge Environmental Assessment (pdf, 12,812 KB)  This assessment was prepared to assist federal agency review required under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) to ensure that the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) does not fund any WSDOT actions that may jeopardize the continued existence of endangered or threatened species or their critical habitats. 

2001 Bridge Closure Survey
(pdf, 233 KB) The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) mailed 22,178 surveys to Hood Canal Bridge users to determine what transportation facilities and services commuters will use when the bridge is closed for reconstruction.

2000 Closure Mitigation Plan - Preferred Options (pdf, 1,175 KB) The Hood Canal Bridge Replacement Advisory Committee (HCBRAC) brainstormed 62 transportation options to help address transportation demand during the bridge closure. As a first step toward paring-down the number of options, the committee combined options that were inter-dependent, and refined others to accommodate bridge users’ needs – 48 options were presented to the HCBRSC for review.

1998 Origin and Destination Study (pdf, 2,073 KB) The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) contracted with ECONorthwest (ECO) to conduct a survey of Hood Canal Bridge users to determine trip patterns, frequency, and purpose.

1997 East-Half Replacement Study (pdf, 1,218 KB) The purpose of this report on the William A. Bugge Bridge east-half floating portion is to identify the factors affecting the remaining effective service life and to evaluate the cost effectiveness of rehabilitation verses replacement.
