R, S & T.  An aerial view of the replacement pontoons used in the 1980s to rebuild the west half of the bridge.  These pontoons served as a temporary portion of the west half until the complex draw span could be completed, allowing WSDOT to open the bridge to drivers as soon as possible.  June 28, 2006.


R, S & T.  This picture, taken in the summer of 2006, shows a view of the pontoon decks at bottom and superstructure above.  R,S and T are moored to dolphins at the right.  June 28, 2006.


R, S & T.  A view of the knuckles (where the pontoon is connected to other pontoons) and the superstructure (columns and roadway) on pontoon R.  Soon R, S and T will be towed from Port Gamble Bay to Seattle where crews will remove the old superstructure and roadway and build new superstructure and roadway to match the recently widened west half of the bridge and the new east half.  June 28, 2006.
