
Positioning. The derrick barge (DB) Pacific moves into the correct location for placement of the first new anchor on the bottom of Hood Canal. April 2007.

Pump. Water is pumped into an anchor to slowly submerge the anchor in the water. In the background, drivers travel across the Hood Canal Bridge. May 2007.

Clamps. Four metal clamps, which go through the anchor walls, hold the anchor during the entire controlled descent. When the anchor reaches the bottom of the Canal, the clamps are monitored with a camera to carefully detach from the anchor. May 2007.
